The first international standard hospital in The Gambia offering a range of specialist services not available currently in country.
When the Clinic opens it will provide the following services: full diagnostic service, out-patients, general surgery, gynaecology and obstetrics, paediatrics, general medicine, cardiology, orthopaedics surgery and urology.
In the first phase international teams travelling to Horizons Clinic will provide sub-specialist elective surgical services. The international medics will come from some of the world's best hospitals as demand dictates.
Ultimately, Horizons Clinic will be a one-stop hospital including comprehensive diagnostic services (with a full radiological service including CT scanning and MRI), laboratory services, family practice/out-patient clinics, ambulatory and in- patient care. The Clinic will also house a well-equipped intensive care unit, stabilisation unit and a neonatal intensive care section.
Horizons has secured sophisticated private investors that understand the benefits of their long-term investment in terms of contributing to improved healthcare provision in The Gambia and the sub-region, the opportunity to be a part of the first such social enterprise in sub-Saharan Africa and a recognition that there are opportunities to scale up to other parts of sub-Saharan Africa. The private investors come from private healthcare, oil industry, property development, hotel/tourism industry, and the import/export business.
