What We Do
Horizons is aiming to create, implement and develop a model of improved and sustainable healthcare in the Gambia that can then be used in other parts of sub-Saharan Africa.
Over the next few years Horizons will focus on three main goals:
- Reducing maternal and infant mortality through: provision of outreach services for mothers/pregnant women and infants under two years old; training for midwives in outreach clinics; and development of an effective triage system leading to referral of at risk pregnant women and infants to the Horizons Clinic.
- Work in collaboration with other providers of healthcare to increase the capacity and standard of healthcare in the Gambia through provision of outreach healthcare services and development of a training programme for healthcare professionals in the Gambia.
- Establish the Horizons Clinic: a high quality, international-standard hospital, which generates sufficient revenue to be financially self-sustainable in the long-term and steadfastly supports Horizons Charities to deliver the charitable goals.
